Wet Spot Regatta 4 World Peace

·         On the water event:

o        3 events in one:

§         Reverse Handicap Sailboat Race

§         Poker Run

§         Costume/Boat Theme contest

o        Location Wet Spot Dock (far east) at China Peak Landing.

o        Festivities start at 11:15 with Margaritas on the docks

o        Reverse handicap yacht racing starts beginning at 12:00a.m.

·         Regatta dinner and party:

o        Location: across the street from John and Kim Gibson's home Bear Creek Rd (aka the Boulevard) #23.

o        6:00 P.M. Cocktails

o        6:30 P.M. Poker Run results (Skipper must be present to win)

o        Following the poker game…Vote on costume/boat theme

o        7:00 P.m.  Dinner,

o        Awards after

·         Registration

o        It is essential that participants register for this event because…

o        We will be providing tools for capturing the playing cards and…

o        We need to know how many guests you plan to bring to the dinner.

·         Cost of admission:

o        A pint or fifth of tequila. 

§         Premium tequila may help with your handicap assignment if it is presented to the Protest/Handicap committee Friday evening.

o        A hot dish, hors d'oeuvres or salad to share Include that information in your registration.

·         Before sailing begins:

o        The handicap committee will set start times for each registered boat.

§         The handicap committee consisting of Daniel Irwin and Rod Hansen will hear protests Friday night at the Lakeshore Saloon.

§         Boats/skippers will receive adverse handicaps if they show up to participate without preregistering

o        Handicaps may or may not be adjusted based on:

§         begging

§          bribing or

§          special gifts for

§          the handicap committee members any time before the racing begins.

§         A good example of winning handicap points is the way the Koop’s picked me and my car up at the hospital after I had a procedure.  And then stayed with me until they were sure I was alright.

§         Or you can buy Rod a drink…that’s sort of the same

§         Treachery and debauchery are allowed (encouraged actually).

o        Protests will be heard in the Lakeshore Bar on Friday evening.

o        Trophies will be awarded at the Awards dinner.

o        You must be at the Awards dinner to receive an award.

·         The racing:

o        This event will be held under the Racing Rules of Sailing 2025-2028…sort of…treachery and manipulation may be rewarded.

o        The start will be a Le Mans type start from the WETSPOT dock (far east dock at China Peal Landing)

§         Your crew and passengers must be on the Wetspot dock when your start is called (that is…your assigned start time).

§         Sails can be on the boat and attached but not hoisted or rolled out.

o        The race course is simple with a twist; 

§         Leave all the 4 islands/island groups to port.

§         Pick up a playing card when your start is called

§         Pick up a playing card at each of the boats posted near each of three islands.  (Try not to hit the boats or each other while trying to get your cards.) (if your spinnaker pole is a problem take it down…don’t crash it into the committee boat)

§         The boats will be posted:

§         To the East of one tree island,

§         in the lee of the West end island, and

§         in the lee of the Islands across from the launch ramp (I call them the Commodore and Vice Commodore islands)

o        Finish line. 

§         The finish will be between the white “No Wake” ball at the entrance to China Peak Landing and the North shore (there might be a finish boat).

§         A finish committee will be present at the Landing Bar to collect your cards and add a 5th card to an envelope which will be sealed until the start of the card game.

              Each boat will need to pull into an empty slip and send a representative up to the Landing Bar to turn in the 4 cards and receive their 5th card.  The finish committee will take possession of the cards at that time.

 

o        Prizes.

§         Trophies will be awarded for First through fifth,

§         DFL,

§         Dick Cockren (Spirit and contribution to the event), and

§         The Fickle Finger of Fate award (bad luck)

§         There will also be prizes for the 3 best poker hands and

§         the boat with the best costume/boat theme.

This is a full day event and you must be present at the dinner to win any prizes.

 

It is important that you  register boat and guest numbers so we can make plans for he dinner.
